Melbourne Airport 8th Reclaim Carousel

The Melbourne Airport 8th international baggage reclaim was unveiled in December 2017, increasing passenger throughput by 15 per cent in time for the Christmas travel rush. The new 155m baggage carousel handles 800 bags at a time, the largest carousel airport-wide, and is flanked by an 85m wide LED digital screen to creatively bolster Victorian tourism throughout the year.

LCI’s building services involvement with the project included fire protection and fire safety engineering for the terminal, resulting in the relocation of Australian Border Force offices, plant and a structural and vertical transport core to facilitate the expansion.
