J-Hub: LCI and Partners Transform Yokine’s Historic Site into a Community Hub

LCI celebrates the completion of the Jewish Community Centre, known as J-Hub, strategically located at the historic Yokine site in WA. This project, carried out in partnership with Carabiner, Byte Construct, and our client Maccabi WA, signifies a crucial enhancement in community infrastructure by integrating heritage with innovative design and engineering practices.

For more than 70 years, the Yokine site has been central to the Jewish community in WA. The transformation of this site into J-Hub aims to preserve and augment this rich cultural legacy. The facility now houses a 350m² Holocaust Education Centre, administrative spaces, childcare facilities, and multifunctional meeting and event spaces designed to welcome both the local and wider community.

LCI provided key Mechanical, Electrical, Security, Hydraulic, Fire Protection, and ESD design services, ensuring a balance of functionality, safety, and sustainability:

• Holocaust Education Centre: Our security designs foster a respectful and secure learning environment, using innovative systems.
• Community Facilities: From the childcare centre to the function centre and caterer’s kitchen, our designs prioritise energy efficiency and environmental sustainability while enhancing functionality.
• Security and Durability: Our design solutions, featuring advanced security systems and durable materials, ensure the centre’s longevity and maintain its aesthetic integrity.

J-Hub was meticulously designed to blend seamlessly with neighbouring Jewish community facilities, including sports, educational, and aged care infrastructures. This integration enhances community cohesion and pride, with the centre designed to harmonise with the surrounding residential area.

J-Hub is expected to serve as a critical venue for community engagement, educational initiatives, and cultural enrichment for the foreseeable future. LCI continues its commitment to delivering engineering excellence that significantly benefits community life.
