Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre

The Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre is dominating the news this past week thanks to its ability to deliver a ground-breaking cancer therapy that was previously only available internationally. The Centre is now one of six facilities in the world with approval to commercially manufacture the revolutionary CAR-T therapy. This treatment involves removing a patient’s immune cells, reprogramming them in a lab, and then transplanting them back into their body to fight their own cancer cells.

LCI Melbourne was responsible for the Project management and Building Services design as the Principal Consultant for the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre’s new Centre of Excellence. The Centre of Excellence is housed with the award-winning Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC), a $1 Billion laboratory masterpiece, home to hundreds of talented researchers and clinicians in the world of cancer research.

The VCCC is a magnet for the best and brightest minds in cancer research, education and training, treatment, and care, successfully positioning itself as one of the top 10 cancer centres worldwide.
