The Woolworths Melbourne Fresh Distribution Centre (MFDC) is located in Trunganina, Melbourne and is set to be a multi-million-dollar state-of-the-art facility built by Vaughn Constructions.
It will provide storage and delivery of fresh produce and chilled products to hundreds of Victorian Supermarkets, creating jobs for the local community throughout construction as well as permanent jobs once the Distribution Centre opens late 2020.
Charter Hall hold majority investment of the $135 Million on the MFDC as the landowner, with Woolworths signing on to an initial 15-year lease for the site.
The MFDC is designed to replace the operations currently located at Mulgrave, Melbourne, providing Woolworths with a new marketing edge for supply chain dynamics. The MFDC will be co-located with Hilton Meats’ production facility, who are currently Woolworths meat supplier.
The MFDC is targeting a 5 Star Green Star rating from the Green Building Council of Australia, by including a solar panel system on the roof of the facility, charge points for electric trunks, and fuel savings of more than 400,000L each year.
LCI is providing the Fire Services Design for the MFDC facility along with the design for the Hilton Meats’ production facility.
